- 6 cups sliced apples
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a large baking sheet.
- In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
- Pour the apple mixture over the pie crust in the baking sheet.
- Dot with pieces of butter.
- Roll out another pie crust to cover the top; crimp the edges to seal.
- Beat the egg with milk and brush over the top crust.
- Cut slits in the top for steam to escape.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
Choose a mix of sweet and tart apples for a more complex flavor. Allow pie to cool for easier slicing.
