  • 1.5 lbs beef sirloin or tenderloin, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Incorporate minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms are golden brown, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Push vegetables to the side and add the beef chunks, browning on all sides, about 5-6 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the beef and sautéed vegetables, stirring to coat evenly.
  6. Gradually pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, and bring to a simmer.
  7. Reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes, until gravy thickens and beef is tender.
  8. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding herbs like thyme or rosemary, or a splash of soy sauce during cooking.
