Description

A rich and fudgy brownie recipe that evokes nostalgia and brings joy in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (4 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large bowl using a microwave, double boiler, or stovetop.
  2. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the melted butter and whisk to combine.
  3. Mix in the room temperature eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda to the mixture, folding in the chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and place in the preheated oven.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a skewer inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. Slice and serve.

Notes

For best results, mix sugars into warm butter and adjust baking time as needed for desired fudginess.
