- 1/2 cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup (4 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large bowl using a microwave, double boiler, or stovetop.
- Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the melted butter and whisk to combine.
- Mix in the room temperature eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda to the mixture, folding in the chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and place in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a skewer inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. Slice and serve.
Notes
For best results, mix sugars into warm butter and adjust baking time as needed for desired fudginess.
