Ingredients

- 2 lbs Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, sliced
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a medium baking dish.
- Wash and peel the potatoes, then slice them thinly.
- In a bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Layer the potato slices in the baking dish, pouring some cream mixture over each layer and sprinkling cheddar cheese on top.
- Repeat the layering until all ingredients are used, making sure the top layer has the cream mixture.
- Top with panko breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
Notes
Allow the dish to rest for a few moments after baking to ensure it sets properly. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
