Description

Juicy venison sliders topped with melted cheddar cheese, creamy mayonnaise, and nestled in soft Hawaiian rolls, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 pounds ground venison
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 24 Hawaiian rolls
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Using 1 tablespoon of melted butter, grease the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil, then incorporate the ground venison and diced onion. Break up the venison using a wooden spoon or spatula.
  3. Season the mixture with kosher salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Sauté the combination for about five minutes, or until the venison changes from red to a brown color.
  4. Transfer the meat mixture to a large mixing bowl and fold in the mayonnaise for added creaminess.
  5. Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half. Lay the bottom halves on the buttered baking sheet and cover them with the eight slices of cheddar cheese.
  6. Spread the cooked venison mixture evenly over the cheese, ensuring the mixture reaches the edges.
  7. Top the venison mixture with the shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Place the tops of the buns, cut-side down, over the assembled burgers.
  9. Brush the tops with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  10. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the bun tops are golden brown.

Notes

For extra tenderness, mix in a small amount of fat like ground beef. Experiment with different cheeses for varied flavors.
