- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced red onion
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
- In a small saucepan, combine blackberries, honey, and balsamic vinegar over medium heat.
- Cook the blackberry mixture, stirring occasionally, until it thickens, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, season the ground venison with salt and black pepper.
- Divide the venison into four equal portions and shape into loose balls.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add turkey bacon slices to the skillet and cook until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, place the venison balls and smash them flat with a spatula.
- Cook each side of the burgers for 3-4 minutes, until browned.
- While burgers cook, whisk together brie cheese and heavy cream until smooth and whipped.
- Toast burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Spread whipped brie on the bottom half of each bun.
- Place a venison patty on top of the whipped brie.
- Add a slice of crispy turkey bacon on each patty.
- Drizzle the blackberry sauce over the bacon.
- Top with lettuce and sliced red onion.
- Cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Consider using blue cheese instead of feta for a richer flavor twist.
- Try maple syrup instead of date syrup to change the sweetness in the blackberry sauce.
- Experiment with lamb or turkey for a unique burger patty taste.
