Description
A refreshing blend of tart lemons and sweet blueberries that brings the joy of summer in every sip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- ½ cup sugar (more or less to taste)
- Juice from 4–5 lemons (about ¾ cup juice)
- Peels from 2–3 lemons (optional)
- 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
- 4 cups water (for the lemonade)
- Fresh mint, lemon peels, and slices, blueberries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and juice 4-5 lemons until you gather about ¾ cup of juice. Set the juice aside.
- Combine ½ of the lemon peels, blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves and the blueberries start to pop, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Remove your saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
- Strain out the berries and lemon peel with a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to obtain a smooth syrup.
- Mix the blueberry syrup with 4 cups of cold water in a large pitcher. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Pour over ice when chilled and add optional garnishes like mint leaves, lemon slices, and additional blueberries for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
Adjust the sweetness of the lemonade by adding more sugar or lemon juice according to your taste. Experiment with garnishes for added flavor.
