Description
A delightful and rich butter cake that evokes nostalgia and warmth, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 7 oz. (200g) cake flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks (225g) unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 7 oz. (200g) sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons plain yogurt (preferred or whole milk)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease the baking pan with butter.
- Mix the flour and baking powder in a bowl and sift them together. Add salt and mix well. Set this mixture aside.
- Beat the butter and sugar on medium speed until combined and pale yellow, about 3 minutes.
- Add the first egg and beat well, continuing with each egg, scraping down the sides as you go. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Fold in the flour mixture gently until just combined. Add the plain yogurt or whole milk and mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, shaking lightly to distribute it evenly.
- Bake for 40–50 minutes until golden brown and cooked through, covering with aluminum foil if the top starts to brown too quickly.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Cut into pieces and serve warm.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for better emulsion and avoid overmixing to prevent a dense cake. Customize by adding zest or extracts for flavor.
