Description

A comforting and flavorful dish that combines ground beef, cabbage, and spices, all cooked in one skillet for easy clean-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cored and chopped
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove excess fat if there is more than a few tablespoons.
  2. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, and continue to cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, and all the seasoning into the pan with the ground beef. Cover and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Taste and adjust with additional salt or seasoning if needed.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top, cover again, and allow it to melt.
  6. Serve and enjoy it alone or with rice!

Notes

Use fresh cabbage for a crunchier texture. Adjust spice levels and consider topping with crispy fried onions or crumbled bacon for extra flavor.
