Description
A festive, tree-shaped bread filled with gooey mozzarella cheese, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 13 ounces canned refrigerator pizza dough
- Parchment paper (for lining baking sheet)
- 6–7 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 large egg (+ 1 tablespoon water for egg wash)
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese (divided)
- 1 tablespoon fresh, finely chopped parsley
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh, finely chopped rosemary
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh, finely chopped basil
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 1 jar marinara and/or pesto (for dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the pizza dough into 30 equal squares and chop the mozzarella sticks into 30 bite-sized pieces.
- Place a piece of mozzarella in the center of each square of dough, fold and seal the edges, then roll into a ball.
- Arrange the dough balls on the baking sheet in a tree shape.
- Whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash, then brush each dough ball lightly with it.
- Bake for 16-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Melt the butter in the microwave and stir in half of the parmesan cheese, garlic, and herbs. Brush over the warm rolls after baking.
- Top with the remaining parmesan cheese and serve immediately with marinara and/or pesto for dipping.
Notes
For extra cheesy goodness, add more mozzarella without overfilling. Experiment with herbs in the butter mixture for added flavor.
