- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1/4 cup hot pepper jelly (or more to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
- In a large bowl, mix softened butter, flour, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until a smooth dough forms.
- Optionally, add Dijon mustard and mix thoroughly.
- Form the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Create an indentation in each ball using your thumb or the back of a spoon.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Cool for about 5 minutes, then spoon hot pepper jelly into each indentation.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Chill the dough balls for 15-20 minutes before baking to help them keep their shape. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
