Description

Delightful cheesy thumbprint appetizers featuring a gooey center filled with hot pepper jelly, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 cup hot pepper jelly (or more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  2. In a large bowl, mix softened butter, flour, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Optionally, add Dijon mustard and mix thoroughly.
  4. Form the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  5. Create an indentation in each ball using your thumb or the back of a spoon.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  7. Cool for about 5 minutes, then spoon hot pepper jelly into each indentation.
  8. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Chill the dough balls for 15-20 minutes before baking to help them keep their shape. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
