Ingredients
Scale
- Strawberry Simple Syrup:
- 100 g (3.5 oz) sugar
- 120 ml (1/2 cups) water
- 80 g (2.8 oz) sliced strawberries
- Mocktail:
- 240 ml (1 cup) whole/semi-skimmed milk
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s chocolate syrup
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) strawberry simple syrup
- 2 strawberries, sliced with stems still attached, for garnish
- Semisweet chocolate or similar, for garnish
- Ground cinnamon, for garnish
Instructions
- For the strawberry simple syrup: In a small saucepan, mix together the sugar and water, and heat on medium-high until boiling. Add the strawberry slices and use a fork to mash them, extracting their juice. Let the mixture continue to boil for 1 to 2 minutes. Allow it to steep for at least 10 minutes. Pour the mixture through a strainer into a jar with a lid. Seal and refrigerate until you’re ready to use.
- For the mocktail: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the milk, chocolate syrup, and strawberry simple syrup. Shake until the mixture is well chilled. Pour the mixture into two glasses. For decoration, place a strawberry on the edge of each glass, sprinkle with grated chocolate, and add a dash of ground cinnamon. Serve right away.
Notes
- Use ripe strawberries when making the simple syrup to ensure a robust strawberry flavor in the mocktail.
- Experiment with alternative milks like almond or soy for a dairy-free option.
- Enhance the mocktail by adding a hint of flavored liqueur, such as raspberry or cherry, for added complexity.
