Description
A warm and comforting cinnamon swirl apple bread filled with sweet apples and spices, reminiscent of grandmother’s kitchen.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the white sugar and butter until creamy. Then, add eggs one at a time, stirring in vanilla after mixing.
- Combine the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Gradually add this mixture while alternating with the milk to the creamed mixture. Stir until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Layer it with half of the chopped apples and half of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture. Repeat with the remaining batter and toppings.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To finish, whisk together powdered sugar and milk for a glaze, then drizzle over the cooled bread. Enjoy!
Notes
For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Be careful not to overmix the batter after adding flour.
