Description

Discover how to make the perfect Cowboy Butter recipe that will take your dishes to the next level. Learn the secret ingredients and step-by-step instructions here!

Ingredients

  • – ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) coarse Dijon Mustard
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh chives, chopped
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh parsley, chopped
  • – 2 teaspoons (10 ml) fresh thyme
  • – 2 teaspoons (10 ml) garlic, minced
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) lemon juice
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) paprika
  • – 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) kosher salt
  • – 1/8 teaspoon (1 ml) pepper
  • – 1/8 teaspoon (1 ml) cayenne pepper
  • – 1/8 teaspoon (1 ml) crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the softened butter with Dijon mustard, chives, parsley, thyme, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, pepper, cayenne, and red pepper flakes. Stir everything together until well mixed, resulting in about â…” cup of butter. (A food processor could also be used for blending the ingredients.)
  2. To create a flavored butter log: Place the cowboy butter on a sheet of plastic wrap. Shape it into a cylindrical form by rolling and molding it, ensuring it’s fully enveloped in the plastic. Twist the ends of the wrap and chill in the fridge until it solidifies (minimum of 2 hours or up to overnight).
  3. To prepare a butter dip: Gradually melt the mixture in the microwave, using 20-second intervals and stirring between each heating session, until completely liquefied.
  4. Keep refrigerated in a sealed container for a maximum of 5 days.

Notes

  • For a more intense herb flavor, increase the quantity of fresh chives, parsley, and thyme in the cowboy butter mix.
  • Adjust the spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper and crushed red pepper flakes to your liking.
  • Experiment with various types of mustard, like whole grain or spicy brown, to personalize the butter’s taste profile.
