  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (25 g)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (15 g)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (2.5 g)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (2.5 g)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (2.5 g)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (1 g)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (1.5 g)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (60 ml)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened (60 g)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for frying (30 ml)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground venison, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, green onions, and parsley.
  2. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt to the mixture.
  3. Pour in the beaten egg and mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix the cream cheese with the barbecue sauce until smooth.
  5. Take a small portion of the venison mixture and flatten it in your hand.
  6. Place a small dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the center.
  7. Gently shape the venison mixture around the cream cheese, forming a ball.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining mixture.
  9. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  10. Add the venison balls to the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd.
  11. Fry the balls until they are golden brown on all sides, about 10 minutes.
  12. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  13. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Consider enhancing the flavor by adding a touch of Worcestershire sauce to the venison mixture before shaping into balls.
  • To spice up the venison balls, try incorporating a hint of cayenne pepper into the seasoning mixture.
  • For a crispy texture, coat the venison balls in extra breadcrumbs before frying.
