Ingredients

- 2 pounds beef stew meat (such as chuck roast or round steak)
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil (for browning the meat)
- Optional: chopped onions and mushrooms
Instructions
- Trim any excess fat from the beef stew meat.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the beef stew meat on all sides.
- Transfer the browned beef into the crock pot.
- Sprinkle the brown gravy mix and onion soup mix over the beef.
- Add the cup of water, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- If desired, add chopped onions and mushrooms to the pot.
- Stir everything together until well combined.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is tender.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Notes
Feel free to customize with root vegetables or spices for extra flavor. Leftovers taste even better the next day.
