Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef or turkey with the chopped onion and garlic. Drain excess fat.
  2. Transfer the meat mixture to a crockpot.
  3. Add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  5. Serve warm, topped with cheese.

Notes

Experiment with adding bell peppers or corn for extra texture and flavor. Adjust spices to suit your taste.
