Description

A delightful combination of slow-cooked beef chuck roast, sautéed onions, and melted cheese, served in toasted rolls with a rich au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • French rolls or baguettes
  • Sliced provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • Au jus for dipping

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the crockpot.
  2. Top with sliced onion and minced garlic.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, water, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce; pour over the beef.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender.
  6. Shred the beef with two forks and return to the crockpot, stirring to coat with the juices.
  7. Toast the French rolls and fill them with the shredded beef and a slice of cheese.
  8. Serve with a side of warm au jus for dipping.

Notes

Choose a well-marbled beef chuck roast for maximum flavor. Don’t shy away from seasoning, as it enhances the savory elements of the dish.
