Description

A comforting and hearty Salisbury steak dish featuring seasoned beef patties topped with rich mushroom gravy.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1/4 cup water (optional, if using cornstarch)

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and form into oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the patties on both sides.
  3. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add sliced mushrooms to the same skillet and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine.
  6. Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for about 15 minutes.
  7. If desired, mix cornstarch with water and add to the skillet to thicken the gravy.
  8. Serve the Salisbury steaks with mushroom gravy poured over the top.

Notes

For a thicker gravy, gradually add the cornstarch slurry and adjust to your preference. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days.
