Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions to the skillet and cook until they caramelize, about 15-20 minutes.
- Incorporate the ground beef into the skillet, breaking it up as you brown it. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, caramelized onions, beef mixture, and beef broth. Stir until all elements are well mixed.
- Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
- Top the mixture with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese becomes bubbly and golden.
