Ingredients

- 2 slices of bread
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
- Optional: more powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer sliced strawberries on top of the cream cheese on one slice, then place the other slice on top to form a sandwich.
- Dredge the sandwich in flour, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the sandwich for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Optional: dust with powdered sugar before serving. Serve warm.
Notes
For added crunch, consider double-dipping the sandwiches in the egg and breadcrumbs. A dash of cinnamon in the breadcrumb coating can add a unique flavor.
