- 1 cup (240 ml) long grain white rice – rinsed (see note)
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s butter
- 2 cup (480 ml) s chicken broth
- 1/4–1/3 cup (80 ml) fresh squeezed lemon juice – to taste
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) turmeric
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) finely chopped fresh herbs – optional (dill is my favorite!)
Instructions
- In a large pan on medium-high flame, allow the butter to liquefy.
- Add the washed rice and mix for 60 seconds, then incorporate the turmeric.
- Pour in the broth, lemon juice, and salt, and let it reach a boil.
- Lower the heat to maintain a vigorous simmer, cover the pan, and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally during this period.
- Use a fork to separate the grains, add the fresh herbs if you like, and serve the dish.
