- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup almond butter
- 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the applesauce, almond butter, honey (or maple syrup), eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, combine the cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the dark chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing into squares.
