Description

A nutritious twist on classic brownies, made with unsweetened applesauce and almond butter to create a fudgy, guilt-free treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the applesauce, almond butter, honey (or maple syrup), eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, combine the cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in the dark chocolate chips if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  7. Allow to cool before slicing into squares.

Notes

To personalize your brownies, consider adding nuts or using different types of chocolate chips.
