- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the sugar, water, and salt. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Quickly pour the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let them sit for a couple of minutes until melted.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee, then sprinkle with chopped pecans.
- Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
Notes
Be cautious when pouring hot toffee; it can be extremely hot. Allow cooling to ensure a crunchy texture.
