- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Blend until just incorporated; do not overwork the mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to a lightly greased loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Press gently to form an even thickness.
- In a small bowl, blend ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar until smooth.
- Spread the glaze evenly over the top surface of the formed loaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 75 minutes, until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Remove from the oven and allow resting for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For added flavor, try incorporating fresh herbs or swapping breadcrumbs for crushed cereal or oats.
