- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/4 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons fresh chopped basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1 cup pasta sauce or marinara sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded and divided)
- 1 whole large egg (slightly beaten)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian seasoned bread crumbs, grated parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, chopped basil, and parsley.
- Gently mix the ingredients without over-mixing to maintain a tender texture.
- Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil and shape the meat mixture into a loaf approximately 1 inch thick, 8 inches long, and 4 inches wide.
- Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes.
- After baking, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining pasta sauce evenly on top.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the meatloaf rest briefly before slicing and serving warm.
