- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup ketchup (for the mixture)
- ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup ketchup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, ¼ cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Form the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
- Spread ¼ cup ketchup on top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
Consider letting the meatloaf rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes after mixing to let the flavors meld. Use a thermometer to check for doneness.
