Ingredients

- 2 ribeye steaks
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Olive oil
- Butter
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or cast-iron skillet over high heat.
- Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and black pepper.
- Drizzle olive oil on the grill or in the skillet.
- Place the steaks on the heat source and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
- Flip the steaks and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium rare, adjusting the time depending on thickness.
- If desired, add butter and fresh thyme or rosemary during the last minute of cooking for extra flavor.
- Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to check for internal temperature; aim for around 130°F (54°C). Rest the steak after cooking to ensure every bite remains juicy.
