Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until softened.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 minute more.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, and black beans to the pot.
- Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot.
Notes
Let chili rest for a few hours after cooking for better flavor. For extra heat, add jalapeños or increase chili powder.
