Description

A hearty and comforting old fashioned chili that brings warmth and joy to any dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, and black beans to the pot.
  5. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot.

Notes

Let chili rest for a few hours after cooking for better flavor. For extra heat, add jalapeños or increase chili powder.
