Instructions
- Soften 8 ounces of cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature or microwaving in 15-second bursts.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl or over medium heat, then let cool slightly.
- Mix the melted butter with 1 box of yellow cake mix and 2 large eggs using an electric mixer until smooth. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- In the cleaned mixing bowl, combine 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, the remaining 2 eggs, 1 pound of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown around the edges; the center should jiggle slightly.
