A healthy twist on classic burgers using cabbage as buns, filled with savory ground meat and spices for a flavorful meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 small head Cabbage, cut into thick slices
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil, for brushing
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey (or ground chicken or plant-based options)
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
  • 1 cup Cheese, for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut the cabbage into thick slices and brush each slice with olive oil on both sides.
  3. In a large bowl, combine your ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the optional egg. Mix until well-blended.
  4. Place the cabbage slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Form the meat mixture into patties and place a patty on each cabbage slice.
  6. Sprinkle cheese generously on top of each patty.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve warm.

Notes

Ensure cabbage slices don’t overlap on the baking sheet to avoid sogginess. Experiment with spices and cheese types to customize your burgers.
