Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (454 g) venison loin (450 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) all-purpose flour (120 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) garlic powder (8 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder (4 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika (2 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (1 gram)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) breadcrumbs (120 grams)
  • 4 ounces (113 g) beef cheese, cut into cubes (115 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) vegetable oil for frying (240 milliliters)

Instructions

  1. Cut the venison loin into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Flatten each piece slightly with a meat mallet.
  3. Insert a cube of mozzarella cheese into the center of each piece.
  4. Fold the venison around the cheese, forming a nugget shape.
  5. In a bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
  7. Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  8. Dredge each venison nugget in the flour mixture, ensuring even coating.
  9. Dip the floured nuggets into the beaten eggs.
  10. Coat the nuggets with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  11. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  12. Once the oil is hot, add the venison nuggets in batches.
  13. Fry the nuggets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  14. Remove the nuggets from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  15. Serve the venison nuggets hot while the cheese is still gooey.

Notes

  • Ensure each venison nugget is thoroughly sealed to prevent any cheese leakage while frying.
  • Use a meat thermometer to guarantee the venison reaches a safe internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Pair the venison nuggets with marinara sauce for a flavorful dipping option.
