- 1 cup water
- 2 sticks margarine
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar

- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk

- 6 Tbs buttermilk (additional for frosting)
- 1 tsp vanilla (additional for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Grease your sheet cake pan or two 9×13 pans.
- Mix together flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda in a bowl.
- Combine the peanut butter, water, and margarine in a saucepan.
- Bring to a rapid boil, then pour over the flour mixture.
- Mix thoroughly, then add in the eggs and buttermilk.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For frosting, bring the margarine, peanut butter, and buttermilk to a rapid boil in another saucepan.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and powdered sugar.
- Pour the warm frosting over the cake.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting into bars for serving.
Notes
For a chunkier texture, consider using crunchy peanut butter in the frosting. Pair with ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
