- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space in between.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until smooth.
- Once the cookies are cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting on top.
Notes
For thicker cookies, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Use an ice cream scoop for evenly sized cookies.
