- 1 whole turkey (10–12 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Herbs (like rosemary, thyme, and sage)
- 4 cups turkey or chicken broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, cut into chunks
- 2 celery stalks, cut into chunks
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the giblets from the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Rub olive oil generously all over the turkey, then season it with salt and pepper.
- Stuff the turkey’s cavity with fresh herbs, quartered onions, chopped carrots, and celery chunks.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan, pouring four cups of turkey or chicken broth around the base.
- Roast the turkey for approximately 2 to 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes with the broth, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Allow the turkey to rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
Start with the turkey at room temperature for even cooking. Use a meat thermometer to check the doneness without touching the bone.
