Description
A flavorful and healthy appetizer featuring fresh edamame pods mixed with sautéed garlic and a kick of heat from red pepper flakes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh edamame in pods
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Set a large pot of water over high heat and bring it to a boil. Add a pinch of salt to season the water.
- Once the water boils, add the edamame pods. Cook for approximately 5 minutes until tender and bright green.
- Drain the edamame using a sieve and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process.
- In a large pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat for about 1 minute.
- Add the finely chopped garlic to the pan. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden.
- Stir in the soy sauce and red pepper flakes, mixing thoroughly for 1 minute.
- Gently add the cooked edamame to the pan. Toss to coat the pods in the garlic sauce.
- Allow the mixture to heat on the stove for 2-3 minutes.
- Season to taste with salt and sprinkle fresh cilantro over the top just before serving.
Notes
Adjust red pepper flakes to control spice level. A squeeze of fresh lime juice before serving enhances flavor.
