- 12 large pasta shells
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 cup spinach, chopped
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 egg
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, spinach, mozzarella, parmesan, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Stuff each shell with the ricotta and spinach mixture and place it in the dish.
- Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve.
Notes
For optimal texture, avoid overcooking the pasta shells. The stuffed shells freeze well; assemble but skip baking, then thaw and bake as directed when ready.
