- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 12 large egg whites

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sift together the cake flour and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar in a bowl.
- Combine the egg whites, cream of tartar, salt, and vanilla in another bowl and beat until soft peaks form.
- Add the remaining sugar gradually, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the flour mixture gently into the egg whites.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
- Invert the pan to cool completely before removing the cake.
- Serve with sliced strawberries and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
