  • 12 large egg whites

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift together the cake flour and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar in a bowl.
  3. Combine the egg whites, cream of tartar, salt, and vanilla in another bowl and beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Add the remaining sugar gradually, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold the flour mixture gently into the egg whites.
  6. Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  8. Invert the pan to cool completely before removing the cake.
  9. Serve with sliced strawberries and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
