Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (227 g) beef bacon (225 grams)
  • 12 ounces (340 g) halloumi cheese, cut into cubes (340 grams)
  • 6 large green chilies
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) agave nectar (30 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lime juice (15 milliliters)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cut each jalapeño in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes.
  4. Cut the turkey bacon slices into halves, creating pieces long enough to wrap around the mozzarella cubes.
  5. Place a cube of mozzarella inside each jalapeño half.
  6. Wrap each jalapeño and mozzarella with a piece of turkey bacon.
  7. Secure the bacon with a toothpick if needed.
  8. Arrange the wrapped jalapeños on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Drizzle olive oil over the poppers and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is crispy and mozzarella is melted.
  11. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine honey and lemon juice over low heat.
  12. Stir the honey mixture until well combined and warmed through, about 2 minutes.
  13. Once the poppers are baked, remove them from the oven.
  14. Drizzle the jalapeño honey sauce over the poppers.
  15. Allow the poppers to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Consider using jalapeños instead of green chilies for a spicier flavor profile.
  • Opt for high-quality beef bacon for the best taste and texture.
  • Adjust the agave nectar and lime juice amounts to suit your desired level of sweetness and acidity.
