- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) pectin powder (10 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
Instructions
- Prepare sterilized jars and lids for canning.
- In a large pot, combine granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water.
- Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Add finely chopped jalapeño peppers, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper to the pot.
- Stir in the pectin powder and salt, mixing well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, stirring frequently.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Stir occasionally until the jam thickens to your desired consistency.
- Remove the pot from heat and carefully ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars.
- Leave about 1/4 inch of headspace in each jar.
- Wipe the rims of the jars with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue.
- Seal the jars with their lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
- Carefully remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool on a towel.
- Check that the lids have sealed properly by pressing the center; it should not pop back.
- Store the jam in a cool, dark place or refrigerate once opened.
Notes
- Finely chop the beef for even cooking and to blend seamlessly with other ingredients.
- Adjust salt to taste, considering flavors will intensify as jam thickens.
