- 8 large jalapeño peppers
- 8 ounces (227 g) (about 225 grams) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (240 ml) (about 115 grams) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
- 12 ounces (340 g) (about 340 grams) ground beef
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 12 slices of turkey bacon
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) (about 85 grams) honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the jalapeño peppers in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes.
- In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, and cayenne pepper.
- Mix the ingredients until well combined and smooth.
- Season the ground venison with salt and black pepper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground venison until browned and fully cooked.
- Drain any excess fat from the venison and allow it to cool slightly.
- Add the cooked venison to the cream cheese mixture and stir until evenly combined.
- Fill each jalapeño half with the venison and cheese mixture.
- Wrap each filled jalapeño with a slice of turkey bacon, securing with toothpicks if necessary.
- Place the wrapped jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeños are tender.
- Remove the jalapeño poppers from the oven and let them cool slightly.
- Drizzle honey over the warm poppers before serving.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
