  • 1 cup (240 ml) (about 115 grams) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • 12 ounces (340 g) (about 340 grams) ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 12 slices of turkey bacon
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) (about 85 grams) honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the jalapeño peppers in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Mix the ingredients until well combined and smooth.
  5. Season the ground venison with salt and black pepper.
  6. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground venison until browned and fully cooked.
  7. Drain any excess fat from the venison and allow it to cool slightly.
  8. Add the cooked venison to the cream cheese mixture and stir until evenly combined.
  9. Fill each jalapeño half with the venison and cheese mixture.
  10. Wrap each filled jalapeño with a slice of turkey bacon, securing with toothpicks if necessary.
  11. Place the wrapped jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeños are tender.
  13. Remove the jalapeño poppers from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  14. Drizzle honey over the warm poppers before serving.
  15. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Soften cream cheese to room temperature for a smoother filling.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper to taste before filling jalapeños.
