Description
Delicious teriyaki beef skewers made with tender top sirloin steak marinated in a rich blend of brown sugar and soy sauce, perfect for summer barbecues.

- 2 lbs top sirloin steak (sliced thin, 1/4 inch thick)
- ½ cup dark brown sugar
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- 2 Tablespoons BBQ sauce
- 2 Tablespoons white sesame seeds
- 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
Instructions
- Take the top sirloin steak out of its packaging, and dry it thoroughly using paper towels.
- Remove any connective tissues or silver skin from the meat to ensure a tender bite.
- Slice the roast into 2 x 3 inch pieces against the grain, making each slice approximately 1 cm thick.
- Place the sliced beef in a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate medium mixing bowl, combine dark brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, white sugar, white sesame seeds, and BBQ sauce. Whisk until well blended.
- Pour the marinade over the sliced beef and coat each piece thoroughly.
- Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the beef to a zip-top plastic bag. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, up to 24 hours.
- Skewer about six slices of beef onto each skewer stick, leaving a 2-inch gap on one end for easy handling.
- Arrange the skewers on a tray lined with aluminum foil.
- If there is leftover marinade, transfer it to a saucepan and bring it to a boil, stirring until it reduces and thickens.
- Grill the skewers over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until cooked through and caramelized.
- Serve immediately as an appetizer or main course.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding fresh ginger to the marinade. Serve with reduced marinade as a dipping sauce.
