Description

Delightful homemade cinnamon rolls filled with rich cinnamon and topped with creamy frosting, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk, heated to 110°F
  • 2 + 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter (divided)
  • 4 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus 2-4 Tbsp
  • 6 Tbsp softened butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the warm milk, active dry yeast, egg, 1 tablespoon of melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. Gradually add in the all-purpose flour, mixing with a wooden spatula until combined.
  3. Add in 1 tablespoon of flour until the dough is no longer sticky. Knead the dough with your hands for about 3 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm area for about 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough rises, make the cinnamon filling by mixing together softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in a bowl.
  6. Once the dough has risen, lightly dust your work surface with flour and turn out the dough. Roll it into a large rectangle, roughly 17 x 10 inches.
  7. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly on the dough and roll it up lengthwise. Cut the roll into 8 equal pieces using dental floss for clean cuts.
  8. Place the rolls in the prepared baking pan, cover with plastic wrap, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. After the second rise, brush the rolls with the remaining tablespoon of melted butter. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow the rolls to cool for about 15 minutes before frosting with the cream cheese frosting.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for best results. Adjust cinnamon quantity based on flavor preference. Can add nuts or dried fruits for variation.
