Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large eggs
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt (or sea salt)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups chocolate chips (a mix of semisweet and dark)
- 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted and slightly cooled)
- Optional: extra chocolate chips and flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Prepare the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
- Combine the dry and wet ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and fold gently.
- Chill the dough: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat and prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop and shape: Form balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake: Place the cookie sheets in the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes.
- Cool and set: Let the cookies cool on baking sheets before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
Adding extra chocolate chips on top before baking enhances both appearance and flavor. Chill dough well to avoid flat cookies.
