  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • ¼ cup sugar (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture while alternating with whole milk until just combined.
  6. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown, with a toothpick coming out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool completely before layering with strawberry filling.

Notes

For best results, use fresh strawberries for the filling. Allow cakes to cool in their pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
