- 1 pound (450 g) venison, ground
- 12 ounce s (340 g) pasta, uncooked
- 2 tablespoon s (30 g) unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (100 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) onion powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) salt
- 1/4 cup (15 g) fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) red pepper flakes (optional )
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the ground venison to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, stirring to combine.
- Simmer for 5 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add heavy cream to the saucepan and heat until warm, stirring occasionally.
- Gradually stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the red pepper flakes to the cheese sauce, if using.
- Combine the cooked pasta, venison mixture, and cheese sauce in a large mixing bowl.
- Mix until the pasta is well-coated and ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the pasta.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
