Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken (34 pounds)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix together garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Rub the chicken all over with olive oil and then with the spice mixture.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
  5. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket breast side down.
  6. Cook for 30 minutes.
  7. Carefully flip the chicken so it is breast side up, and cook for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let the chicken rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the spice mixture a few hours before cooking. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked through.
