Description

Delicious and crispy Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos with a creamy spicy sauce, fresh toppings, and a burst of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha (or to taste)
  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Shredded lettuce, for serving
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set them aside.
  2. Prepare three shallow bowls for the breading process. In the first bowl, combine the flour with salt, black pepper, and paprika. In the second bowl, beat the eggs. In the third bowl, pour in the panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the shrimp by dipping each piece into the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the extra to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp with panko breadcrumbs. Repeat this process for all shrimp.
  4. Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the shrimp in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, which usually takes about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. Prepare the sauce by mixing mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha in a separate bowl. Adjust the Sriracha based on your spice preference.
  6. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave. To assemble the tacos, add a layer of shredded lettuce on each tortilla, followed by several pieces of crispy shrimp and a dollop of the bang bang sauce. Top with avocado slices and garnish with fresh cilantro.
  7. Serve immediately with lime wedges for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider baking the shrimp instead of frying. Adjust seasonings according to your taste for added flavor.
