- 3 tbsp vegetable oil (45 ml)
- 2 lbs cubed beef stew meat (900 g)
- 4 cubes beef bouillon, crumbled
- 4 cups water (960 ml)
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 0.5 tsp ground black pepper
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces (2.5 cm)
- 4 stalks celery, cut into 1 inch pieces (2.5 cm)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tsp cold water
Instructions
- Warm up the vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven on medium-high heat; add the beef and sear until it achieves a deep brown color.
- Dissolve the crumbled bouillon cubes in 4 cups of water and add this liquid to the pot; incorporate the rosemary, parsley, and black pepper. Allow it to reach a boil, then lower the heat, put a lid on, and let it gently cook for 1 hour.
- Mix in the cubed potatoes, carrot pieces, celery chunks, and chopped onion.
- Combine the cornstarch with 2 teaspoons of cold water until smooth; blend this into the stew. Cover again and continue to simmer until the beef becomes tender, approximately 1 more hour.
