Description
A warm and nostalgic dish featuring creamy butternut squash and sweet apples, enhanced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium butternut squash, peeled and cubed
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the butternut squash, apple slices, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl. Toss until everything is fully coated.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts and raisins on top if using.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the squash is tender and slightly caramelized.
- Serve warm as a side dish.
Notes
For a sweeter version, increase the brown sugar slightly. Add apple juice to retain moisture if the bake appears dry.
